Common Questions

Yoga is a mind-body practice that uses breathing, stretching, and mindful movement to help your body relax and your mind slow down. It supports balance, strength, flexibility, and emotional well-being.
All bodies are yoga bodies — you don’t have to be flexible or “fit” to start.

I am a Register Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, trained in Hatha, Vinyasa, Kids and Restorative. I teach a calm, gentle flow that focuses on slowing down, connecting with your breath, and moving in a way that feels supportive. I use props to make poses more comfortable. I love teaching chair yoga, as it makes the movements for accessible. My classes are grounding, relaxing, and beginner-friendly.

You will need to wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Stretchy pants and a loose t-shirt is perfect.
Typically, you will need:
Yoga mat
Blanket
Two blocks
Strap
Bolster
If I am doing a private session in your home, I will bring all of these materials.
You can use common household items as props. Blanket- Find one that is cotton and does not slide. Two blocks - Find two thick books, preferably hardback that are about the same size. Strap- Find a thick scarf or belt. Bolster - Find a thick blanket or a firm pillow.
Your first purchase should be a yoga mat. This is going to give you a non-slip surface so you can feel supported and move safely. This adds a layer of protection between your body and the floor. Mats range from $10 - $250. Generally, the higher the quality, the better the grip and durability.
I have found cheaper options at TJMaxx. Gaiam is a well-known, beginner friendly brand. Jade Yoga and Manduka are well-known investment mats.

Yes! Yoga can be modified for all bodies. Make sure you are cleared by your doctor for physical activity. Let me know of any injuries, limitations, and sensitivities so I can create a plan that is best for YOUR body.
Flexibility will happen naturally as your stretch out tight areas and strengthen the weaker area. The focus of yoga is how you feel in your body, not what version of the poses you can do. Yoga meets you were you are.

Yoga is easily modified to create engagement with the participant.
Adult yoga typically is a breathing exercise, warm up, flow, cool down, meditation. Kid's yoga is similar, except with the addition of games, silly sound affects and playful movements. Teen yoga lands somewhere in the middle - playful yet structured.
